The VDMA, in cooperation with the OPC Foundation, the FieldCommGroup and Deutsche Messe AG, is hosting the first "World Interoperability Conference - Networking with OPC UA Standardization Groups".

The conference parallel to the Hannover Messe enables the exchange and networking with national and international organizations and working groups within the framework of the OPC UA Companion Specification Standardization. This event provides an insight into the future of interoperable, manufacturer-independent information exchange.

The conference is planned in such a way that it can also be attended by non-fair visitors without an overnight stay in Hannover.

At the beginning, representatives of the OPC Foundation, the VDMA and the FieldCommGroup Keynotes will introduce the topics Industry 4.0 and OPC UA.

Afterwards the participants have the opportunity to discuss and network with different working groups within the OPC UA CS standardization. Each working group presents its vision and mission at so-called theme tables.

The 2019 European elections in May cast their shadows ahead. The political landscape is in a state of flux. The traditional parties are challenged by populist and EU-critical parties and it is completely unclear whether a conservative-social-democratic majority in parliament will be achieved again.

Where is the EU heading after the Brexit, what are the answers to the refugee problem and the crumbling rule of law in the individual EU countries? Can the "European House" be held together and how will the top positions in Brussels be filled?

We are discussing this with Martin Selmayr. As the new Secretary General of the European Commission, the former Head of Cabinet of Commission President Juncker will occupy one of the most important positions in Brussels and, with around 32,000 employees, will be responsible for the strategic direction of the EU in the coming years.
